Over three decades, Angélique Kidjo has been cemented as one of the most inventive voices in international music. Africa, One of a Kind is the first segment of her upcoming Mother Nature album. The single is an exuberant ode to both her own, and artists Mr Eazi & Salif Keita’s, proud roots. The upcoming album will see Angélique join forces with innovative creatives involved in a spectrum of genres, including afrobeats, afro-pop, dancehall, hip-hop and alt R&B. Guests on Mother Nature include Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, Mr Eazi & Salif Keita, Shungudzo, Zeinab & Lionel Loueke, Sampa The Great, Blue Lab Beats & Ghetto Boy, EARTHGANG and –M-.
“We are all Africans and the blood of Africa runs through our life. This song, which I recorded with one of the icons of the new generation of African artists, is a declaration of love to the continent. We want to change the way it is portrayed and show its beauty to the world” - Angélique
Four-time Grammy Award-winning Kidjo, who is from Benin, says the album was ignited after a newly heightened feeling of need to connect with the generation of incredible young African musicians bursting onto the international scene. Mother Nature confronts integral issues at the forefront of racial inequality and climate crisis, whilst revealing Kidjo’s power to create music that oozes radiance and joy.
