Angry Joe and the Holy Socks continue their personal songwriting journey on 'In Real Life'

After confronting darker subjects on their second album, Angry Joe and the Holy Socks have taken a more hopeful direction with new single In Real Life.

The Houston band’s latest release focuses on the period after failure, when progress can feel distant but the possibility of change remains. Frontman Angry Joe drew on his own experiences while completing the song, which had existed in unfinished form since his early years of writing on guitar.

The track pairs direct, personal lyrics with a melodic rock arrangement shaped by layered guitars and a rising chorus. Its blend of alternative rock and Britpop influence continues the style the band have developed across recent releases.

Personal experience remains central to the group’s work. Joe’s history, including military service, addiction recovery and rebuilding his life through music, has informed much of the band’s catalogue.

Following radio, playlist and press support for I’ll Run Away, the new single adds another chapter to a growing body of work grounded in perseverance, honesty and emotional recovery.
