The video you're about the watch is the result of a genuine appreciation of another's art. Only hours after the release of Emanuel's single 'Need You', the Golden Globe-winning actor, musician and producer Idris Elba OBE, kicked off his collaborative social media campaign #NeedYou2020. Focussed on the ways in which people are coping with self-isolation and separation from loved ones, Idris Elba created collage from over 4,500 entries from over 20 countries.
Overall, the video is a message of hope, inspired by the searching vocals and resplendent instrumentation of Emanuel's RnB ballad 'Need You'.
Important to note also is that 'Need You' is part of a larger project from the Ethiopian-Canadian artist. His upcoming debut EP, ALT THERAPY – Session 1: Disillusion, will be released this Spring via Universal Music Canada. Providing insight into this first installment, Emanuel tells us:
“Alt Therapy. It represents so many things. It is healing. Healing for those things in the past that would have us in bondage, in depression, in sadness. Those voices that told us we weren’t important. It’s gratification, for the yearning in our hearts to do something great for the people of this world.”
