Discovering Blue Capricorn and LOREN KOLE through joint single “honest”

I’ll admit, Blue Capricorn and LOREN KOLE were completely new names to me, so I came to their joint single “honest” without any expectations. And, the first thing that struck me was its atmosphere. There’s a beautifully weightless quality to the track, with hazy synths, delicate keys and restrained percussion creating a space that feels both intimate and strangely distant. What I particularly like is how “honest” doesn’t treat heartbreak as a dramatic, definitive moment. Instead, it lingers in that much messier emotional territory where attachment, uncertainty and acceptance overlap. The vocals feel vulnerable without becoming overly sentimental, while the production gives the song a cinematic quality that reminded me why comparisons to artists like James Blake and The Marías make sense. As a first introduction to both artists, I found the collaboration especially compelling. Blue Capricorn and LOREN KOLE sound like they’re responding to each other rather than simply sharing a track, giving “honest” a genuine sense of intimacy. There’s also enough texture and experimentation beneath the surface to reward repeated listens. By the end, I felt less like I’d heard a breakup song and more like I’d been invited into a private moment of reflection.
