If there’s one thing we’re sure of, it's that Italian duo Trust the Mask never fail to build galactic concepts behind every song of theirs. ‘Otaku’ is no exception, inspired by the Japanese term which describes those who obsessively live vicariously through video games and computers. Bet you’ve never heard of a song that tackles such a topic!
Greatly experimental, the composition is home to a diverse set of sounds, from analog synths, to middle-eastern pipe motifs and organic percussion. The track taps into multiple sonic eras to produce a fully authentic piece.
Each section is unpredictable and surprising. And don’t get us started on the music video! An intricate choreography of shots, the images accurately resemble the sounds in the movements, props and colours. A true gem all round!
