I didn’t expect to be floored by an album today, but Peter Doran’s All the World Is Running on a Mystic Code left me wide-eyed and deeply moved. From the first notes, there’s a quiet kind of magic at work here... something ancient and intimate, yet unmistakably fresh. Doran writes like someone who’s been listening to the heartbeat of the universe, transcribing its pulses into song. What astonishes me most is the raw empathy woven through each track. “Clockwork” in particular knocked the wind out of me; a tender, anxious journey through a pivotal life moment that felt as if it were my own. Somehow, Doran takes deeply personal stories and renders them universal, without losing an ounce of their emotional weight.

The sonic palette is rich and brave: folk roots tangled with experimental edges, ambient textures carrying lyrics that feel whispered from some sacred place. The haunting and holy“Never Say Goodbye” lingers like salt air in the lungs. Peter Doran’s gift is in his ability to feel, and make us feel, too.
