‘Carry You On’ finds Sunny Rae Keller reflecting on family and care

Sunny Rae Keller is continuing the build-up to her first full-length release with new single “Carry You On”.

The Paris and Los Angeles-based artist uses the song to examine memory, motherhood and the long-term effects of caregiving. Its origins can be traced to a residency in France, where she spent time discussing her family’s history with her mother.

That personal background informs a quietly arranged folk recording built around fingerpicked guitar and a measured vocal performance.

Alongside songwriting, she studied filmmaking at Paris College of Art and continues to draw on cinema, literature, travel and visual art in her work.

Her connection with music also stretches back to childhood, when she began writing songs after receiving a handmade ukulele and later performed material connected to Alzheimer’s awareness.

“Carry You On” will form part of her upcoming album Pocket, which is expected to further develop her reflective, narrative-led approach to contemporary folk.
