Bristol based Conal Kelly releases musing new single ‘In My Head’. With dreamy, refined vocals and edgy instrumentals, Conal’s fresh approach to chilled alt-pop is sensationally crafted. This multi-talented artist’s new offering combines contemplative lyrics and celestial melodies, propelling bedroom pop to new heights.
Speaking about his new release, Conal said: “The writing and recording of this track was a real learning curve for me. My usual 'music making process' can get quite in-depth, since it's just me doing all of the writing and recording. In this instance, I tried to push myself out of my comfort zone to avoid falling into old habits... I feel like this track best showcases my attempt at a fresh approach as a solo artist, so made sense to lead with it as a debut single. I'm super happy with the way it turned out and I think it serves as a good introduction.”
Conal Kelly is a songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, priding himself on his ability to produce and record entire songs independently from the comfort of a spare room studio. The key indicator of his talents can be showcased in Conal’s debut 6-track offering, which is a collection of covers recorded and produced in 24hours.
Having previously fronted Bristol indie-pop act Watercolours, Conal was able to develop his production and songwriting styles, while enjoying consistent support from BBC Introducing and numerous editorial playlist features on Spotify, including Finland's 'Hipsteribrunssi'. From rubbing shoulders with the likes of Massive Attack, IDLES and Eats Everything, to the influential prog-rock of his uncle Mark Kelly with Marillion, there is no limit to the influence taken in Conal's music, and 2020 is proving a big year for him.
