With a broad and distinctive discography that has seen him venture down countless avenues in the last decade, Columbus, Ohio's Ray Curenton is now back to his vibrant best once again as he delivers the toe-tapping new single 'Better Place'.
As the opening track to his latest studio album 'Believer, a.k.a. The Last Shall Be The First’, which is available to stream now, 'Better Place' makes for one hell of a fun listen. With its bouncing brass-led aesthetic, glittering hooks, and his own infectious persona at the helm, he is returning to the fold with one of his most adventurous offerings to date here.
Adding about 'Better Place', he said, "I initially envisioned this song being about the afterlife, but at some point it morphed into a dual hope for a better life here on earth. It means fighting for economic, social, and environmental justice for everyone—I don’t really need pearly gates; I want liberation. I’m calling what I’m doing with this album “Spiritual R&B” because all of it is rooted in the gospel music that I grew up listening to. But my hope is that even if you aren’t a person of faith, the themes and messaging of the music feels good to you and brings you encouragement.”
