Shadow Flowers expand beyond shoegaze on forthcoming ‘Blood Book’

The release of “Paraselene” offers an early glimpse into what Shadow Flowers have planned for their debut album Blood Book.

While the new single draws heavily on layered guitars, distortion and shoegaze atmosphere, the wider record is expected to move into a broader range of influences, including gothic rock and more dramatic production styles.

The project is led by Southampton musician Aaron Mills, with Ash Babb and Patrick White helping bring the material to life. Mills has described the band’s recording philosophy as one that values instability and character over technical perfection, favouring moments where instruments sound close to breaking point.

Blood Book was recorded with Ian Davenport and mixed and mastered by Peter Fletcher. The project also features contributions from Steve Christie and artwork by photographer Christy Lee Rogers.
