Animated ‘Sweet Number One’ video reimagines Dave Follweiler’s past

evolution 9 have paired their latest single “Sweet Number One” with an animated video that playfully revisits songwriter Dave Follweiler’s younger years.
Created by Spanish animator Álvaro Ortega, the visual features both younger and present-day cartoon versions of Follweiler. Its fictional storyline imagines the young musician working as a hotel bellhop before becoming captivated by a mysterious guest.
“Sweet Number One” was originally written during the 1980s before remaining unreleased for several decades. Follweiler eventually returned to the track and recorded a full version with Gene Cullison, Hub Willson and Jon Lamson.
Musically, the single draws from British Invasion guitar pop and 1970s American power pop, continuing evolution 9’s preference for melodic songwriting without committing the project to one fixed genre.
