COTTA Unveils Upbeat Second Single “Better”

Following her debut single “Wings,” a smooth, piano-driven ballad, as well as her acoustic cover of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” rising talent COTTA is back with her first release of 2021, funky gem “Better.” Aiming to empower anyone in her audience who is going through a tough breakup, “Better” is the perfect showcase of what COTTA can truly do, combining intimate vocal lines with an upbeat instrumental filled with groovy guitars and bright synths.

“I wanted to write a breakup/moving on anthem - but not an anthem at someone else's expense,” explains COTTA. “So much music out there is all about, ‘you suck and I don't, I hate you but I'm also totally over it’ and I can't stand that. It's not legitimate and it can actually be damaging, long-term. ‘Better’ is just a real ‘throw your hands in the air and dance’ kind of track, that I hope reminds anyone going through something that they are getting better. And hopefully this song is played a lot throughout those realisations!"

One of the most exciting emerging talents out of the south-east Queensland music scene, COTTA is only getting started, certainly with a promising career ahead of her. Described as "the lovechild of the late 1980s and Maggie Rogers", COTTA aims through her music, whether she’s softly performing a ballad, or making a dancefloor-ready bop. With her intimate lyricism, detailing love, loss and life as she experiences it, and lively production, COTTA certainly is one of our top talents to watch this year.
