With the likes of Jessie Ware and BBC Radio's Huw Stephens already confirming themselves as fans of her work, West Midlands-based artist and producer Loveday is looking to brighten our day once again as she delivers her dreamy new single 'Ugly Smile'.
Honing more of that warm and vibrant dream-pop aesthetic she has been cultivating for herself over the years, 'Ugly Smile' sees her return with a beautifully alluring gem. Shimmering with bright and soaring textures, measured perfectly against her confident vocals throughout, she looks set to become even more talked about in the months to come with this one.
Adding about the new song, she said, “Ugly smile is about falling for somebody after leaving a toxic relationship. I wrote this track about my own experience, I was trying to convince myself that I wasn’t going to get into anything serious because I was terrified of commitment after my ex had treated me terribly. However, I couldn’t ignore how strong my feelings were for this person. I wrote this track at the peak of my confusion, hence the back and forth in the lyrics. Then finally, as the end of the song expresses, I started to open my mind to the possibility of another relationship, because this new person was different. Now that I think about it, writing this song really helped me decide what to do (I went for it, and we’re still together now a year and a half later).”
